Wembley Stadium

The new Wembley Stadium opened in Spring 2007 and quickly reestablished itself as the country’s leading venue for sports and entertainment events- its flexible and dynamic design allowing it to host a variety of events from soccer and rugby to American football and live music events.

With concerts in mind the designers provided a choice of stage locations but for most the stage is likely to be end-on in the western side of the stadium, bringing fans as close as possible to the artistes. The higher roofline plus a new purpose-built sound system reduces the amount of noise ‘spillage’ while seats in the stadium are demountable to allow quick rigging for concerts and a clean power supply has been built into the stage positions.

This year AC/DC, Take That, Oasis, U2 and Coldplay provided 12 thrilling nights of fantastic live entertainment and U2’s ‘360⁰’ tour smashed the stadium’s all time attendance record set by Rod Stewart in 1995. In total, an incredible 163,000 fans attended their concerts over the two days.

Accolades have also started to roll in including Best Live Venue at both the prestigious NME Awards and the Vodafone Live Music Awards.

Showsec

Showsec’s has reinforced its position as Europe’s leading security specialist by pioneering crime reduction strategies and robust operational procedures and integrating innovative security measures with unrivalled customer service.

In 2009 the company reduced organised crime at major events such as Bestival, where close communication and joint operations with local police and event organisers proved particularly effective.

By working on the whole spectrum of musical events and with every major live music promoter, Showsec’s 2,500 qualified professionals fine-tuned an already advanced understanding of risk assessment, event safety, ingress, egress and front-of-stage pit management while an extensive research and information exchange facility allowed further advances in the science of crowd management..

Following the opening of a Scottish office in early 2009, Showsec added Rockness, T In The Park, Loopallu and Belladrum to its existing portfolio of over 400 clients including Wembley Arena, Earls Court, MEN Arena and the London Roundhouse as well as TV specials The Brit and MTV Europe award ceremonies.

The UK leg of the U2 360º World Tour and festivals like Download, Hyde Park’s Wireless, Hard Rock Calling, Romania’s B’estfest and Holland’s Lowlands also gave Showsec perfect opportunities to exhibit best practices in collaborative security management systems and techniques.
